Paper Mill: A Rotating Exhibition of Works on Paper

Exhibition dates and deadlines revised due to recent measures taken to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Washington State.

Description: Gallery 110 is seeking artists of all levels to submit work for Paper Mill, a May 2020 exhibition in our East Gallery. All work submitted must be on or made of paper (printmaking, painting, collage, watercolor, drawing, etc.) and should be smaller than 24” in any direction. Artwork must be unframed and matted/mounted on a firm white backing (if visible) to enable the work to stand/lean on its own for display, any other presentation format will need to be pre-approved.

Artists are encouraged to submit 5 – 10 works, as the exhibition is designed to rotate artwork a few times throughout the month to cultivate a shifting curatorial environment that allows maximum artist exposure. Artwork not exhibited on the walls will be kept in our flat-files until rotated into exhibition throughout the month, and will be available for viewing upon request. All work will be featured on Gallery 110’s website. Our goal is to ensure that each artist participating has one or more works on view at any given time. Priority consideration will be given to local in-state artists.

Artwork will be displayed on a lipped, custom-built shelving unit with a depth of 3/4″. The work’s final presentation depth should not exceed 1/2″. The gallery will print adhesive exhibition labels to attach to the backside of all work shown, artists are encouraged to encase work in a thin cellophane sleeve if they are concerned the adhesive may damage the work. Any visible matting/mounting must be white unless other arrangements have been made.

Conditions and Rules: Entries accepted for exhibition must have a professional appearance and arrive in the gallery ready for display. Entries must be for sale and priced with the intent to sell. A gallery commission of 50% will be deducted from sales. The gallery will collect and submit WA sales tax. If selected, artists grant permission to Gallery 110 to reproduce accepted artwork for exhibition promotional use in printed and digital form.

Notifications: Finalists will be notified by email on or before April 18, 2020 and will need to sign and return scanned or printed consignment agreements before receipt of artwork in the gallery. Artists whose work has been selected will be responsible for delivery of work to Gallery 110 by 6pm May 2, 2020. If work is being shipped to the gallery, delivery and return shipping charges are the artist’s responsibility and prepaid return shipping labels must accompany works.

Note that we will have a tight turnaround between the notifying selected artists and the deadline for dropping off work. Please do not submit work if you would be unable to guarantee its arrival to the gallery within this timeframe.

Application Instructions: :Artists can email their work to director@gallery110.com. Emailed submissions must be delivered as a pdf file, formatted so each page contains an image and caption. Each caption MUST contain Title, Medium, Size & Price.

In the event an artist is unable to create a pdf application, please email director@gallery110.com, and we can email you an upload link.
