Sanjida Mity

Sanjida Mity’s passion for art has been a source of comfort and enjoyment since her childhood days. Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and currently residing in Washington, USA, Mity draws inspiration from her multicultural upbringing and diverse experiences.

Growing up in Bangladesh played a significant role in shaping Mity’s imaginative mind for artwork. The vibrant colors, bustling streets, and cultural diversity of the city inspired her to explore different colors, patterns, and textures. Mity’s exposure to a wide range of perspectives and artistic styles in Bangalore allowed her to create artwork that reflects a unique fusion of different cultural elements and techniques, using glass as her canvas to capture the vibrancy of both Bangladesh and India. Mity employs glass and ceramic tiles as her canvas and uses various mediums such as alcohol ink, acrylic, oil pastels, water-based colors, modeling paste, fabrics, and natural elements to create textures and experiment on different levels. She visualizes the colors on her canvas flowing like ragas of classical music, her patterns, lines and shapes moving in rhythms. Mity’s canvas is not any less of a musical instrument. Optimism manifests in her work, symbolizing love, light and the power of nature and humans.

When she’s not creating, Mity enjoys spending time with her family and being a mother. Her multicultural upbringing and diverse experiences have helped shape her unique artistic style, and she continues to draw inspiration from her surroundings and cultural heritage.
