Nathan Vass

Nathan Vass is a photographer, filmmaker, and author by day. A Korean-American born in South Central LA, Nathan holds a BFA in Photography from the University of Washington and has been featured in the Seattle Art Museum, Wing Luke, Henry Art Gallery, and other venues in Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. His photographic work is exclusively analogue, and he enjoys using the camera to document feelings rather than appearances, hoping to evoke a reflective emotional response in the viewer rather than an intellectual one.

By night, Nathan is a Metro bus driver, and his book about his experiences driving, The Lines That Make Us, is a Seattle bestseller and 2019 Washington State Book Award Finalist in Non-Fiction. His community-building work has been showcased on TED, NPR, The Seattle Times, KING5 and more, landing him a spot on Seattle Magazine’s 2018 list of the 35 Most Influential People in Seattle, and Seattle Met’s 2021 Power Players list. He is also the director of nine films including the recent award-winning festival favorite Men I Trust. Learn more at www.nathanvass.com.
