Providing opportunities for artists who lack access has been a key aspiration of Gallery 110’s mission since its inception 20 years ago. Gallery 110’s Emerging Artist Program seeks to develop a cadre of early-career artists through their participation in our artist-run gallery. Each artist gains experience in curation, promotion, installation, and operations, as well as the mounting their own solo exhibition, serving as a broad foundation on which to build a career as a fine artist.

Gallery 110 seeks funding to expand its Emerging Artist Program 2022-2024.

Your donation will support:

  • The second Emerging Artist Scholarship Competition (EASC) – Exhibition June 2022 – Talent is everywhere, opportunity is not. To become more inclusive and equitable as an organization, this year we are targeting those for whom opportunities are scarcer by limiting eligibility to artists identifying as BIPOC*.

A panel of three jurors, including Elisheba Johnson, co-founder of Wa Na Wari, a center for Black art and culture in Seattle’s Central District will select up to seven (7) Northwest artists in the early stages of their careers, via a multi-tiered competition. They will be awarded full memberships in Gallery 110, with the same benefits and responsibilities as other members.

  • Subsidies for ongoing membership for the two 2019 winners of EASC.
  • Biennial themed open-call exhibition at Gallery 110 – January 2023
  • EAP Statewide – Exhibition June 2023. In collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts at Heritage University, we will serve rural artists unable to access opportunities by nature of geographical, financial, and other constraints, providing them the opportunity to exhibit in Seattle and to compete for two (2) full memberships in Gallery 110.
