Molly Magai - Biography
Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1962, Molly Magai started painting in 1982, while a student at Bennington College, in Vermont. After graduating with a major in painting and drawing, she has lived in Vermont and New York City, and in Seattle since 1992.
For many years she created still lifes with surreal elements including photographs, toy animals and cars, and household objects. She participated in a number of shows in Seattle and elsewhere in the mid-90’s, including solo shows at AG47 Gallery and the Speakeasy Café.
Her new work, since 2000, consists of painterly and rather romantic oil paintings of roads, highways, cars, and industrial landscapes. She has exhibited recently at Gallery 110, Zeitgeist Coffee, and Ouch My Eye Gallery, among other venues. She will be a participant in this year's Edge Professional Development program sponsored by Artist Trust.
